Simplicity is the key

Let’s talk about a common trap we all fall into from time to time. That grand idea that ruins us. That major goal we give up on because of simple missteps. You know what I am talking about here. Around January 1st, you made a commitment to get up early, stop eating ice cream, train every day, etc… You got a few weeks into this new life and you missed a workout or ate too much, and now you are binge watching Netflix with a tub of ice cream and your goals have been officially given up on….

1st, 1 mistake is not failure!

2nd, maybe you need to simplify your goals?

Simplicity is the key to success. We need momentum to achieve big things. If we go from 0 to attempting world class level commitment, we are doomed to failure.

Whatever your big goal is, you need to take your 1st step. Take that step today. Set the goal to do it again tomorrow. Keep doing that until the daily act is a habit and no longer that hard to do. Then add a new step. In time you can take many steps and be much further without as much psychological torture you have consistently applied upon yourself for so long.

Forget about 100 more, right now. Do 1 more today than yesterday. Progress is progress. As long as we are moving forward, we are making progress. Let go of the one thing you slipped up on. Focus on the next step. Make that step better. Forward, always forward…

I have personally found that letting go of judgement has been my personal game changer. Being analytical has become the key to growth and happiness. I know what I am trying to achieve and every step, successful or not in that moment, is all data to figure out ultimately how to get where I want to be.

Simple steps without judgement will create the momentum and patterns you need to achieve those dreams. Stay the course and do as much right as you can. When you fall, you only fail if you quit. Keep going.
